have had mine for several years. it is only an mp3 format player. no support for secure wma format. very good to take on short trips limited memory though an mmc card is a must. poor battery performance for a product that has no moving parts. the company that made this went belly up! makes a good player for the kiddies. allthought i have one other wma/mp3 player and a minidisc. this player is still my favorite. for ease of use. microsoft is currently promoting their "plays for sure" campaign but the only way to play your music for sure is to use a portable player that plays mp3 format. this player does just fine but, don't expect a lot.

I have been using PS3 to steam my video, but I am looking for a unit that can do it all and plays "real" audio. I found it with this device. My hookup is as such:
- HDMI connection to the TV via a HDMI switch.
- SPF audio to my receiver.
- An ethernet connection to my SAN.

Here is what I like:
* It plays all kind of video format as it claims, this is really really cool!
* I like the option to access a network drive with additional security where I can enter the username and password, this is handy.
* It supports DTS and multi channels (which I was missing it big time from my PS3)
* It can show subtitle
* The wifi actually supports WPA.
* The remote is nice, got a lot of option.
* I tested with USB device as well and it works as advertised.

Here is what I don't like:
* Even so other reviewers said that the 11n wifi works for HD movie, it does not work for me. My device is less than 20 feet away from my wifi rounter at adjacent room and yet the video is choppy, even for 720p. My laptop says the signal is about -55 dbm. May be I am using the WPA security but I am not willing to "open" my wifi to make this work.

Overall, I like the device and I bought the second unit just the other day. It is versatile and I have been playing quite a few movies via the network and all works out just fine. I give this unit a high recommendation as I tried WD Live TV device before and it has no comparison. With the same setup, the WD device will stop playing the movie after 30 minutes.
